 Standard 3.4 Local anesthetic services and procedures.

Local anesthesia services and procedures at the Community Health Center are carried out in accordance with standards.

Local anesthesia services and procedures are available to meet patient needs.

  a. Criterion 3.4.1

Local anesthesia services at Community Health Centers are carried out in accordance with standards and statutory regulations.

1) Main Thoughts:

a) In outpatient or inpatient services at Community Health Centers, especially emergency services, dental services, and family planning, sometimes procedures require local anesthesia. The implementation of local anesthesia must comply with the standards and statutory regulations as well as the policies and procedures that apply at the Community Health Center.

b) Policies and procedures contain:

(1) preparation of a plan, including identification of differences between adults, geriatrics, and children or special considerations;

(2) documentation necessary to work and communicate effectively;

(3) special approval requirements;

(4) qualifications, competencies and skills of implementing officers;

(5) availability and use of anesthesia equipment;

(6) technique for performing local anesthesia;

(7) frequency and type of resuscitation assistance if necessary;

(8) appropriate procedures for providing resuscitation assistance;

(9) management of complications; And

(10) basic life support.

2) Assessment Elements:

a) Local anesthesia services are carried out by competent health personnel in accordance with policies and procedures (R,D,O,W).

b) The type, dose and technique of local anesthesia and monitoring of the patient's physiological status during administration of local anesthesia by staff are recorded in the patient's medical record (D).
